Would I buy an Asus EEE?
Jayvee asked me just a while ago if I would buy an Asus EEE. My simple reply is “No, I won’t buy one now. I don’t want to be limited to 800×600.” When I think about it, I wouldn’t mind carrying the Asus EEE and a small portable hard drive in a bag. The combination of those two will still be light enough. But what I do mind a lot is the screen resolution. I am already used to my 1280 x 800 screen on the Lenovo C3000 N100 I am using. The only time I get 800 x 600 is when I do something to my xorg settings or when I plug the extra LCD and try to flail with xrandr (I am still a bit lame at figuring out stuff sometimes). And honestly, I don’t really like 800 x 600. It might be big enough so that characters are readable when I don’t have my glasses. But still… I think that Asus might get more people interested in the EEE if the resolution was better than the one it has right now. I won’t have much fun with Gimp with that resolution though it would be enough for my text editing needs.
I am not a power user so the Asus EEE is something I find nifty and in its own way, awesome. I find it awesome because it’s technology that tells the world that it is possible to have something as ultraportable as that and yet not be too pricey. And more importantly, it’s one of the machines made to showcase Linux and show others how easy it is to use an operating system people are not used to.
How about you? What would make you buy an Asus EEE? Or, if you already have one, what got you into buying one?

I would. And I did. (i) Portable, (ii) relatively cheap, (iii) it has a word processor, a spreadsheet, a database, slide maker (Open Office) - the fast version; (iv) communicate via email and im; (v) surf and it is very light. :)

Well, Asus EEE is surely in my wishlist but I do not see it a priority. I wish to have one not for some productive purposes but having it to have an affordable mobility. And for my type of job (web programmer), I also don’t like being limited with 800 x 600 screen size. Nevertheless, I still want to touch and play with Asus EEE. :D

@Juned I know you got one and I am happy for you that the EEE suits your needs. :) As much as I’d love to be more mobile, there are things that would not be easy to do on the EEE. I mean, I’d love to work while in a coffee shop but considering my current tasks/project, it isn’t practical.
@Jerome I know how you feel! When I am in a mall, I am ever hoping that there would be an EEE that’s not being tested so I could get acquainted with it a bit more.
The form factor is really attractive though! Maybe I’d buy one if I could afford it.
