What screenlets are you using?
I have the system monitor always so I could see what’s going on in my laptop. It summarizes practically everything I need to know. Space I have left on my hard drive, wifi signal strength, download and upload rates, etc. Very nifty because it’s just all there on the sidebar. And I could even configure it to appear on all virtual desktops I have. I think that’s really nifty. No need to run top all the time. ;)
Another one I added is the execute screenlet. It makes it easy to run apps on your desktop, literally. It’s like that panel applet in case you don’t have it. Or want it on your desktop instead.
The copy stack screenlet is also nifty if you want a clipboard for everything you’ve copied and pasted. It’s visual in the sense that you have an image of a stack of papers and if you hover over each layer, you’d see the text you’ve copied and pasted. This makes it easier when you are quoting stuff, etc.
What screenlets have you checked out recently? :)
