Geeky Fun: Correction - There is no FF No Machine Extension
In a recent entry, I indicated that there was a No Machine Firefox extension that could be used to connect to CosmoPOD. I’ve taken another look at my Firefox install and in fact, I appear to be using the java client and not a Firefox extension. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be a No Machine client Firefox extension at all. I’m not sure why I thought I was running a FF extension, but I apologize for any confusion that may have caused.

Nah, you’re right, in a sense. I tried to use it after you linked to it before, and I had the following experience:
First it tries to install a Firefox extension; I let it, it seemed to install, but the extension didn’t show up in the exensions list. After a bit, when that appeared not to have worked, it said, “Try the next method”, which was to use an applet. That downloaded, started to run, but then it said it wasn’t installed. The next method was to be to use a client, but I couldn’t be bothered with that.
I tried closing and restarting the browser, to see whether that would make the extension work, but it didn’t. So I gave up. Basically, as far as I can tell, it doesn’t work.
I did briefly try again at home, but had similar results.
Hmmm, I don’t think I’ve tried from Linux yet, though, so I might have another go now.

Oh Good - I thought I was going crazy. I knew there must have been some reason why I thought it was a FF extension…phew!

After asking you about it a few days ago, I tried your suggestion both at home and at work and got the same results as Martin. Too bad, I thought you might have had something there.

Hi There,
In fact CosmoPOD does have a FireFox extension (as well as an IE one). Basically, it runs you through a variety of login methods. A cookie is set for the last one that worked correctly. If you go back in, it will awlays revert to the method that worked for you. If you want to try out the FF extension just delete the cosmopod cookies in your browser. The FF extension works great for me!! Check it out.
