Some troubles with the Broadcom driver
I’ve been having troubles with my Broadcom driver. I used the Restricted Drivers Manager to install it when I upgraded to Gutsy Gibbon. However, it seems to be still a little bit funky at times. The other evening it suddenly couldn’t connect me to the wifi network in the office. I had to use the cable. I didn’t bother to check the Restricted Drivers Manager at the time. In any case, I was still trying to connect my laptop to the network but had no visible success. I spent the weekend at home, resting so I was mainly offline until tonight.
The Restricted Drivers Manager of Ubuntu 7.10

Tonight, I really just wanted to have internet via wifi. I checked the Restricted Drivers Manager and found out that the firmware was disabled so I hooked it up via the wired network to download the firmware again. And guess what! Here I am posting on New Linux User about what just happened.
I hope that this won’t happen to my laptop again. Wifi’s been my main problem with this model, to be honest and now that there seems to be a way for it to work, I hope it’s going to be consistent. :)
