Samba, OpenSUSE 10.3 and Windows XP
I am not really an OpenSUSE user but release 10.3 got me more interested in it. Anyhow, I saw a how-to on using Samba in OpenSUSE 10.3 and it looks like it would be useful for anyone who’s planning to use it. It has a detailed step-by-step guide with screencaps so you wouldn’t get lost.
When I saw the screencaps, I saw how different it was from Ubuntu when it comes to setting up Samba, especially in page 4. It even gives a guide on using Samba through the firewall. There’s also a guide to using smb4k. To quote the how-to:
Smb4k isn’t necessary for browsing or accessing shares but it does make things a tad easier and offers more options (well, at least they are easier to get to) than using Konqueror. I won’t do a lot of explaining here. I think you can figure it out from the screen shots.
Sounds useful eh? ;)
Go check it out and have fun!
