Oracle 11g on Debian Linux
For those of you who are wondering about using Oracle on Debian, it seems that you don’t have to wait much longer. You could already download it from the Oracle Database Software Downloads page. Sounds great to me as it might be possible to not install a Red Hat-based Distro on my laptop so I could have an instance running on it. The next best thing would be the news that Oracle Designer would also be running on Debian-based distros. I’ve been planning to run CentOS or Fedora Core on a virtual machine just so I could have Oracle tools for my work.
Anyhow, it’s going to be a pretty huge download and installing might take a while, as usual.

Lol, well it can’t be harder than trying to install Oracle 11g on Oracle’s own distro of Linux, considering that the Oracle distro is missing a required RPM in order to use ASM. You have to download it from OTN groan.
