Look who’s got the latest Ubuntu installer CD
Aya got herself a copy of Ubuntu’s latest release, Hardy Heron.
Ok, maybe it wasn’t really Aya who got herself a copy in the mail but me. However, Aya’s my Pinky and she will represent me on this blog, for now. Shipit is awesome because of things like this. It makes it easier for me to distinguish installers in the office because this is a pressed CD with the sleeve and all. The sys ad team would easily find it too.
It took a while though. But not everyone here is in a rush to upgrade to the latest release of Ubuntu. Some of us need to work on stuff so it’s not easy to switch to a newer release immediately.
One thing I noticed about the later Ubuntu releases is that pictures used are more casual than artsy. I don’t have my pressed copy of the earlier one, Warty Warthog, but those had a half-naked man and two other women who were in tank tops and pants (I suppose they were but couldn’t see properly). Right now, they have folks in casual attire forming a circle. I think that the current branding is something people could relate with a bit more. :)
