Logos and where they belong: Look for the penguin!

by Clair on June 9th, 2008

Thanks to timelady, we have a humorous look at logos and their significance. ;) Curious? Check out the collection of logos here.

The penguin was the first one on the list! XD

It’s something like the opposite of the Where’s Mickey section in the Disney channel. You have to fill the photos with the logos. ;) Fun, right? If you could spot more places where other famous logos would belong, you could add to the comments of that blog entry.

Logos make it easier for us to remember brands. The visual cue gives us clues to the meaning of the brand or what kind of branding the marketing department wants. It helps us associate something with the brand/thing.

A little bit of Linux trivia:
The penguin was used as the mascot because Linus Torvalds is fond of penguins. And the image is supposed to be more for a contented penguin who has stuffed with herring. Though Tux is now known as the Linux mascot, there was once a fox which was advocated as the mascot for Linux. If you’re curious, you could read more about the history of the Linux mascot here.
