Linux to support flash out of the box

by Kyle on March 17th, 2007

Swfdec is an open-source flash player that was released earlier this week. Although Swfdec is only at version 0.4, it is already having major impacts in the Linux world. Since Swfdec is open-source, once it becomes totally stable, the major distributions (and hopefully Firefox) will be able to have flash support out of the box through the implementation of Swfdec. In other words, no more Adobe Flash Player! The announcement of Swfdec means, in the least, that you can watch Youtube videos without Adobe.
