KDE 4 released!

by Clair on January 12th, 2008

Good news for all you KDE fans and users who would like to check out a new desktop environment! KDE 4 has been released already and you could check it out whatever distro you are using. Check out the list of distros that will make sure that you have packages to download and install. In any case, there’s a live CD for Kubuntu users just so you could check it out.

Okular is one of their interesting apps. It’s a document viewer. It supports PDFs and OpenDocument format files too. Aside from that, you could take down notes! Isn’t it interesting or what? I think it’s nifty that you could treat digital documents the way that you treat actual documents. I like writing notes on printouts so I could easily remember the context of my notes.

The file manager, Dolphin, has a screenshot that reminds of the Mac user interface. Must the be the shiny metallic UI, as well as the icons. Anyhow, it looks really polished.

If you want to know more about the apps, they released a visual guide to KDE 4 apps.

I was using kde 4 a little bit and it was awesome. But I tried to work seriously and I couldn’t.

After, I read that kde 4.0.0 is for developers (port “old” kde 3.x applications to new kde4). The new kde for users will be 4.0.1 and I’m waiting for it :)))

    Regards
