New Linux User

Hello, world!

by Clair on August 15th, 2007

I am Clair Ching and I’d like to keep on sharing with you some thoughts and tips, especially for new Linux users.

Even though I’ve been using Linux since 2005, I could still relate with Linux newbies and every so often I feel like a newbie myself because of the different things that you could do on Linux.  The command line is certainly something that scared me at first but now I treat like a friend and I see it as an ‘equalizer’ among the distributions with their particular settings and desktop environments — although of course, there are some inherent differences with how things work like particular package management commands on RPM-based distros and Debian-based distros.

I’d love to hear from all of you who have tips and Linux user experiences as well.  And if you’re thinking about using Linux, I’d like to know why you are thinking about it or what keeps you from jumping into this free and open source adventure of using Linux.
