FreeMind - a mindmapping tool for you

by Clair on November 19th, 2007

If you’re looking for a mindmapping tool, you could check out Freemind. It’s nice app which makes it easier for you to draw mindmaps and it has packages. The user interface is nice and simple. You could right-click and you have the options of whether to add a new child node, a new sibling node, or add icons that make particular nodes highlighted for whatever is needed. Be it for refining the details or indicating that it is question.

You could install it as an rpm, a deb or from source.

I like using Freemind because it’s actually very useful. You could import the mindmap into an OpenOffice.org document too. :)

I used this on XP and a Mac for a while and liked it. It is a great alternative to the MindMap programs out there. I wish the development was moving faster, and I wish I could contribute to it. Thanks for the blog.

Hi, Chad! It’s a great app. I haven’t tried tweaks though. But it’s really awesome.
