EXPLAIN: What Does the K in KDE Stand for?

by Jon on September 28th, 2005

Nothing.

It used to stand for ‘Kool’ in the time honoured KDE tradition of taking words with the letter ‘c’ in them and replacing them with the letter ‘k’, but in 1996 ‘Kool’ was dropped.

Now KDE just means ‘K Desktop Environment’.
