Beginner’s Tip: Launch applications on startup using GNOME

by Kyle on March 3rd, 2007

Similar to the Windows “Startup” folder, if you want to launch applications when you log into GNOME, you need to go to System >> Preferences >> Sessions. Click the “Startup Programs” tab and then click “Add” button. You will then need to enter the terminal command to launch the program. The example I have shown below is “firefox.” This is very simple but not intuitive if you are new to Linux.
