Back to ubuntu

by George Bunyan on September 24th, 2006

After a short jaunt with sabayon, I have come running back to ubuntu. I feel this is best explained.

The main reason is that several things didn’t work, keyboard settings being the biggest problem. This, and many other small annoyances made the user experience less than enjoyable for a distro billed to be an ‘easy to use’ gentoo system. Don’t get me wrong, I have used gentoo before and I feel it is a very good distro, but I either want my distro to be easy to use or something more ‘complex’ like gentoo. Any middle ground just seems to make it fall so short of ‘easy to use’ that it is easier to use the more ‘complex’ system.

This reason I chose ubuntu? This is my main PC and I cannot live without it for too long, and with the Ubuntu lightning fast install it means I can have a fresh system in minutes. Then I can go about customising it, yet I never have to live without it for that time.

A happy ubuntu user,
George Bunyan
